Carson fut un pionnier de la guitare électrique et a accompagné de nombreux 
artistes dont Hank Thompson,
Spade Cooley et
Billy Gray..
En 1954, il
est devenu associé et un bon ami
avec Leo 
Fender de Fender Musical Instruments, Fullerton.
En collaboration avec Fender
dans le développement de produits, 
il est crédité pour la conception de 
la célèbre Fender
Stratocaster. Avec
Fender, il a occupé divers postes
tels que directeur d'usine, 
directeur des relations avec les artistes, directeur du
service à la clientèle, Directeur Marketing
et Directeur des ventes
jusqu'à sa retraite en 2001. 
Il est décédé le 16 Février 2007.

in Meridian (Oklahoma). 
He was an accomplished Western Swing guitarist, when he relocated to California 
in 1951. He soon established himself as the main guitarist for artist to include
Hank Thompson,
Spade Cooley and
Billy Gray. In 1954, he became associated 
and a good friend with Leo Fender of Fender Musical Instruments, Fullerton. 
Working with Fender in product development he is credited for the design of the 
famous Fender Stratocaster guitar. With Fender he held various positions such as 
plant manager, Director of Artist Relations, Director of Customer Service, 
Marketing Director, and Sales Manager until retiring in 2001. His relationship 
to the Strat guitar is documented in his autobiography book, "My Life & Times 
with Fender Musical Instruments " a best seller. On October 13, 2006, Carson's 
personal 1959 Fiesta Red, custom-built Stratocaster sold for a record $66,000 at 
Christie's Auction House, New York. Also a farmer, for 16 years he held the 
Guinness World Record for the heaviest watermelon at 262 pounds.
